These paintings provide a space for me to focus on the depth and particularities of an object, and an opportunity for me to re-envision that object’s complexities. After capturing the object through drawing, I develop the compositions with layers of gauche—a process that (sometimes) makes sense of the chaos of lines and scribbles, and reveals a new harmony of color and form.
